Ulysha Hall, member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated has made history by becoming the first female chief of the Dallas Police Department. Hall previously served as the Detroit Deputy Chief. The new chief was one of two women under consideration for this position

Under Hall’s leadership in MIchigan, the city of Detroit experienced a 40-year low in homicides and double digit reductions in violent crime for three consecutive years. Hall is replacing David O. Brown, who gained attention for his leadership after four Dallas police officers and one transit officer were killed last year. However, he drew criticism from unions for not doing enough to retain officers.

What do you think about the appointment of Chief. Hall? How important do you think it is that Black people hold leadership positions in law enforcement agencies?
